In 1812, the young United States started a war with British and her Indian allies
in North America. The Americans hoped to gain redress for years of depredations on
the high seas, and more importantly, they wanted British and Indian lands. But the
conquest of Canada and the Indian nations was easier to plan than to execute. Those
next two years of bloody war were marked by blunder and ended in virtual stalemate.
Will Canada be able to defend hearth and home, or will she be swept under in
America's early rising tide?
